Dust is an open source of pollution that enters the atmosphere when ground dust becomes airborne due to wind, human activities, and other dynamic forces. It is a significant component of the total suspended particulate matter in the ambient air. During construction processes, activities such as building construction, road and pipeline construction, building demolition, material transportation, and material stockpiling generate large amounts of particulate matter, causing severe air pollution.

Dust pollution not only makes the air murky and degrades environmental quality but also poses direct hazards to human health. Dust particles can directly invade the human respiratory system. Long-term exposure increases the incidence of diseases such as chronic bronchitis and pneumoconiosis. Inhalable particles with a diameter of less than 10 micrometers can penetrate the alveoli and enter the bloodstream, inducing cardiovascular diseases. According to research, soil erosion due to wind erosion in northern China can reach up to 1.6 billion tons annually, further exacerbating the process of land desertification.

Fengtu Online Dust Monitoring System

The Fengtu Online Dust Monitoring System is an all-weather dust monitoring solution specifically designed for construction sites and similar locations. The system utilizes wireless sensor technology and laser dust testing equipment to achieve real-time monitoring and effective management of dust pollution.

01 System Composition and Functions

This system consists of a data collector, sensors, a video surveillance system, a wireless transmission system, a background data processing system, and an information monitoring and management platform. The monitoring substations integrate various functions including ambient PM2.5 and PM10 monitoring, ambient temperature and humidity monitoring, wind speed and direction monitoring, noise monitoring, video surveillance, and video capture of pollutant exceedances (optional).

The system adopts a modular design, allowing for arbitrary configuration and combination of modules, facilitating the setting of different monitoring factors as needed, and is suitable for large-scale, grid-based deployment. It can not only monitor the mass concentration of airborne particulate matter and meteorological parameters such as wind direction, wind speed, temperature, and humidity in real-time but also allows for real-time viewing of site videos to promptly understand the on-site situation. Dust signals can be overlaid on the video surveillance feed and linked to the particulate matter mass concentration levels.

02 Technical Features

The Fengtu Online Dust Monitoring System is capable of 24/7 real-time online monitoring. The measurement range for PM2.5 and PM10 can reach 0–1000 μg/m³, with a resolution of 1 μg/m³. PM measurement employs the laser scattering principle, uses a fan as the power source, and features a built-in insect screen to ensure measurement accuracy.

The system supports secondary development, includes connectivity modules, defaults to GPRS for data upload, and can interface with various regional project platforms. It also provides intelligent alarm functions, featuring alarm management that can send SMS alerts to designated mobile phones when limits are exceeded, ensuring timely warnings. When PM2.5 levels exceed limits, the system can automatically activate connected mist cannons for on-site dust suppression, achieving automated control.

03 Application Value

The application of the Fengtu Online Dust Monitoring System significantly reduces monitoring costs for environmental protection departments and improves monitoring efficiency. By enabling real-time, remote, and automatic monitoring of dust concentration, noise levels, live site video, and images, the system provides a scientific basis for understanding the true status of pollution from unorganized emission sources at construction sites and for evaluating the effectiveness of dust pollution prevention and control measures. It provides scientific data for dust management at construction sites, contributing to green construction and the improvement of urban air quality.
