The Road Weather Information System can not only provide real-time meteorological and road condition information to ensure driving safety, but also through the analysis of long-term collected meteorological and road condition data, it can provide a scientific basis for the management and decision-making of traffic meteorological monitoring stations, so as to maximize the efficiency of expressways while ensuring traffic safety.
The Road Weather Information System is usually composed of a series of automatic weather stations distributed along the road. They automatically monitor key indicators such as visibility, road surface condition, wind direction, wind speed, temperature, humidity, precipitation and road surface temperature along the traffic line, and send these monitoring data and on-site pictures to the monitoring center in real time for use by the traffic management system. In the event of severe or extreme weather conditions, the monitoring station can quickly send out early warning information and notify managers and drivers through multiple channels to improve road safety.
The Road Weather Information System is divided into wired and wireless types. With software support, they can realize network remote data transmission and real-time meteorological condition monitoring. They are cost-effective mesoscale and regional automatic meteorological monitoring solutions.
