China has a vast territory with a large span of longitude and latitude, featuring rich and diverse climate types. In terms of climate categories, it covers monsoon climate, temperate continental climate, and alpine climate. Divided by temperature zones, it spans the tropical, subtropical, warm temperate, middle temperate, cold temperate zones, and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region.
Changes in meteorological conditions directly impact road construction and traffic across China. Some road sections are located in complex and dangerous terrains, coupled with frequent severe weather, which seriously threatens the safety of drivers and may even cause casualties. In the highway sector, approximately 60% of traffic disruptions are caused by meteorological conditions and their secondary disasters. In urban transportation, limited by poor information circulation, there are many urgent problems in links such as traffic meteorological early warning and traffic evacuation and shelter. Since 2010, multiple departments have successively introduced policies to support and standardize the development of the smart highway industry, covering technical routes, development indicators, and other aspects of smart highway development.
So, how can meteorology and transportation be deeply integrated? What specific advantages does this integration have in practical applications?
The Fengtu Road Weather Station is mainly composed of an atmospheric visibility detector and real-time meteorological sensors. By comprehensively applying acquisition and control technology, computer software technology, remote communication technology, etc., it achieves real-time monitoring and diagnosis of highway environments under severe weather through building a flexible and efficient management system, a complete monitoring system, and unobstructed meteorological information transmission channels. Through remote transmission technology, it timely collects and transmits various data to traffic management departments, assisting in highway safety management and travel meteorological early warning, and providing efficient technological support for traffic meteorological services.
