Tracking Dust Pollution with High Tech
Article source:Weather station time:2024-04-23 08:42:16 viewed:468times
In the process of urbanisation, many construction sites will eventually be transformed into towering skyscrapers. But before the completion of these high-rise buildings, the dust raised on the construction site as if "ghosts" in general, scattered with the wind, especially in the rapid passing of vehicles, the dust will take the opportunity to rise, the formation of the sun-shadowed dust. In the perspective of environmental experts, these dust is a "visible enemy" of air pollution.
Dust not only affects air quality, but may also pose a threat to the health of neighbouring residents, and has therefore become a key concern in environmental protection work.
Dust is a key component of total suspended particulate matter (TSP) in ambient air, which includes not only tiny, invisible PM2.5 and PM10 particles, but also some larger, visible particles. These airborne particulate matter pollutants are the very focus of close monitoring and attention.
Exposed plots of land are one of the key sources of dust pollution in the Hi-Tech Zone. In order to get a more comprehensive view of these plots, drone technology can be used to overlook and monitor bare land from the air. With the help of drones as the "eyes in the sky", environmental protection staff can carry out long-distance, real-time high-altitude monitoring, so as to timely understand and assess the implementation of dust pollution prevention measures.
In order to accurately track the source of dust pollution, two types of high-tech equipment can be used:
Full-time LIDAR: This radar fixed at a certain height can rotate 360 degrees to emit laser light, capture and analyse data on particulate matter such as PM2.5 and PM10, thus generating a map of dust distribution within a 4km radius.
Walking system: This is a mobile monitoring device installed in a car that can display real-time values of PM2.5, PM10 and other pollutants while travelling, pinpointing the exact source of dust.
With these two devices, environmental protection staff can monitor and locate dust pollution more effectively, providing strong support for the implementation of effective pollution prevention and control measures.
