Addressing Forest Fire Risks with Our Forestry Weather Station: Prevention & Early Warning

As the "Lungs of the Earth", forests—specifically broad-leaved forests—consume 1,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide and release 730 kilograms of oxygen per hectare every day, serving as a core pillar of the ecosystem. However, forests already contain two of the "three elements for fire" (combustibles and oxygen). When vegetation dries out in autumn and winter, the risk of forest fires surges sharply. Once a forest fire breaks out, it spreads over a wide area, burns fiercely, and is extremely difficult to put out. It destroys vegetation, injures animals, causes soil degradation, pollutes the environment, and disrupts the balance of the ecological chain. Therefore, early prevention is of great importance.

There are three main causes of forest fires:

Natural and climatic factors: Under global warming, seasons like spring and winter become drier. Dead trees are prone to spontaneous combustion when struck by lightning, increasing the probability of fires.

Human factors: Winter sees more festivals, leading to a rise in folk activities and outdoor trips. Unextinguished cigarette butts, mineral water bottles, broken glass shards, and discarded lighters can all trigger fires.

Inadequate prevention and control measures: Some managers lack sufficient attention to fire prevention and have no comprehensive rescue plans, making it difficult to control the spread of fires in a timely manner.

To prevent fires and protect the ecosystem, our company has developed and launched the Forestry Weather Station. It can accurately monitor meteorological indicators such as air humidity, temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation to determine the fire risk level. When low humidity, high temperature, and wind speed are detected, the system automatically issues an early warning to prompt proactive prevention. It can also be equipped with a lightning monitoring function to provide early warnings for fires caused by lightning strikes.

To address human-induced fires, the weather station can be linked with video surveillance systems to conduct intelligent patrols based on environmental data. If people are found engaging in high-risk activities (such as barbecuing or ritual offerings) in dangerous areas under high fire risk conditions, the system can quickly send warnings to patrol personnel, enabling them to stop the risky behavior in time. Regarding inadequate prevention and control measures, the weather station is equipped with a data management platform. Managers can view real-time monitoring data and warnings through the platform. Additionally, the system can integrate historical and real-time information to support the formulation of personalized rescue plans, ensuring that fires are quickly controlled and losses are minimized.

In summary, the Forestry Weather Station transforms "passive fire fighting" into "proactive prevention". It uses technology to build an intelligent defense line for forests and provides scientific and technological support for protecting the "Lungs of the Earth".
