The technical foundation of a Small Automatic Weather Station is micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). This technology significantly reduces the size of sensors for wind speed, air pressure, humidity, etc., allowing the entire meteorological observation system to be integrated into a lightweight device.
After the device is activated, various sensors synchronously collect environmental data. For example, ultrasonic sensors measure wind speed and direction by emitting continuous frequency-modulated signals, avoiding the problem of traditional mechanical cups potentially getting stuck by rain or snow. This data is processed in real-time by a built-in microprocessor and then transmitted to cloud platforms or command centers via wireless communication technologies such as 4G or LoRa, enabling remote monitoring and analysis.
Rescue teams can deploy the equipment within minutes of arrival. The real-time wind direction, wind speed, and rainfall data it transmits are directly used to determine wildfire spread directions, flood evolution trends, or geological disaster risks, providing crucial on-site decision-making basis for planning evacuation routes and formulating rescue plans.
A complete portable weather station typically weighs no more than 5 kilograms, can be stored in a shock-absorbing protective trolley case, and can be set up by a single person in just 1 to 2 minutes.
